Y’all know I live for small-town romances that pack heart, humor, and just the right amount of chaos. Piper Rayne has been delivering swoony ranch romances for a while. Chasing Forever is just my new favorite from them. This story offers a marriage of convenience twist with a Vegas backdrop. It features a sheriff hero who is all in from the start. It also has a heroine who’s trying desperately to guard her heart.

The tropes are irresistible:

  • Ex-fiance’s brother
  • He falls first
  • Woke up married in Vegas
  • Blue-collar hero
  • Small town romance
  • Ranch family dynamics

If you’re like me and can’t resist a small-town romance, this book is ideal for you. It mixes family drama with heart-melting devotion. Chasing Forever is exactly the book you’ll want to cozy up with.

This book kicks off with the ultimate “oops, what did we do last night?” moment. The heroine wakes up in Vegas married to none other than her ex-fiance’s brother, Brooks Watson. Yes, you read that right. After being ditched at the altar by Watson brother #1, she thought she had sworn off love forever. Happily-ever-afters? Not for her. But then tequila, neon lights, and bad decisions lead her straight into the arms of Watson brother #2.

From the release:

“It was a fun Vegas getaway—until I woke up married to my ex-fiance’s brother.”

Brooks, aka Sheriff Watson, has always been the steady one. Reliable, loyal, charming, and annoyingly perceptive. He’s been quietly obsessed with her for years, but she’s kept him at arm’s length. When she demands an annulment, Brooks counters with his own terms: four real dates before he’ll sign the papers.

Cue sabotage attempts, witty banter, and slow-burn tension that turns into something neither of them can deny. But our heroine is holding onto a secret—one she’s convinced will ruin everything if Brooks ever finds out.

“He tackles my fears at every turn, making me wonder what would happen if I went all in.”

The question becomes: can she risk her heart again, or will history repeat itself in the most painful way possible?

You know when you pick up a Piper Rayne book. You’re getting humor, heart, and chemistry that jumps off the page. But this one hooked me instantly because it’s got one of my favorite setups: waking up in Vegas married. It’s messy, it’s unexpected, and it’s the perfect storm for some heartfelt, swoony moments.

And let’s talk about Brooks for a second. Sheriff, small-town, protective but not overbearing, and he falls first? That combination is catnip for me. He’s the hero who has been quietly in love. Brooks has been waiting for his chance. When he gets it, he’s not letting go.

Meanwhile, the heroine is guarded and fiercely independent, which I always respect. She’s not sitting around waiting to be saved—she’s actively trying to push Brooks away. The tension of that push-and-pull dynamic is what makes romances like this so addictive.

Another thing I’m excited about is how Piper Rayne blends humor with emotional depth. There are laugh-out-loud moments, especially around the sabotaged dates. There is also real vulnerability when it comes to family, trust, and healing after heartbreak. That balance keeps me flipping pages long after I should be asleep.
