You know that warm, cozy feeling of curling up with a story that feels like a second chance? That’s exactly the magic Terrijo brings to life in The Cottage, the start of her brand-new Fish Creek Series. I’m so thrilled to be part of the ARC team for this stunning small-town women’s fiction debut. Today, I get to share the official cover and tell you why you should grab your copy ASAP!

Starting over in your forties? That was never Sadie’s plan. But when her Hollywood husband trades her in for a younger woman, she’s forced to pack up her life and head back to her roots in Fish Creek, Wisconsin.

There, she finds her grandparents’ once-charming lakefront cottage falling apart. But Sadie is far from alone. A childhood best friend with serious DIY skills, a swoony Irish builder with a past of his own, and a fierce lawyer with a bone to pick give her every reason to hope. As walls get rebuilt and hearts start to heal, Sadie begins to wonder: could this be her chance at something even better than before?

This book had me at “hot Irish builder.” But truly, The Cottage hits all the right notes: midlife reinvention, small-town charm, a dash of spice, and deep emotional growth. I’m a sucker for stories that remind us it’s never too late to begin again—and Sadie’s journey is both inspiring and so relatable.

I loved watching her find her footing again, build unexpected friendships, and navigate a second-chance romance that was both tender and deliciously satisfying. The setting? Total lakeside escape vibes. The characters? A found family I never want to leave.

This one’s for fans of authors like Robyn Carr, Susan Mallery, and Kristan Higgins, and anyone who’s ever craved a fresh start with a little heat and a lot of heart.

Terrijo’s love for storytelling began in junior high and never let go. She’s the author of six previously published novels under a pen name and two anthologies celebrating the spirit of Deadwood, South Dakota.

A Minnesota native now based in the Twin Cities, Terrijo finds inspiration for her small-town women’s fiction in the beauty of the Midwest, her work as a hairstylist in Stillwater, and her loyal Morkie sidekick, Zoey.

When she’s not writing about women finding their strength and joy, she’s likely sailing, reading, or cooking up her next fictional escape. Her books offer genuine, heartfelt stories that reflect the real issues women face, always with hope, humor, and just enough steam.
